High quality carbon and alloy steel forged components are made on these air driven hammers for a multitude of industries. With an emphasis on quality, the customers requiring product from this process have short lead-time needs for low volume, market mature products. Hammer Forging is the preferred method for low volume individual forgings. We have hammers ranging from 1500 pounds up to 4000 pounds.
The process is done with a ram, delivering intermittent blows to the section to be forged, applying tremendous pressure, shaping the material, by an instantaneous application of pressure to a relatively small area. The hammer is forced from its maximum height, by air pressure. Large and small forgings, producing an infinite variety of shapes and sizes, are forged using our power hammers, providing maximum flexibility for you at Milwaukee Forge. Hammer forgings can also create a high degree of grain refinement.
