What Is Carbon Steel Forging?
Carbon steel forging is the process of shaping steel using compressive force while the material is heated to forging temperature. The steel is heated until ductile and formed under compressive force using hammers or presses, rather than being melted as it is in casting.
During forging, the internal grain structure of the steel is refined and oriented with the shape of the part. This improves mechanical properties and produces components that perform reliably under load, impact, and repeated stress.
Carbon steel forgings are commonly used in structural and load-bearing components where strength and durability are critical.

AISI 1018
A low-carbon steel valued for its good ductility, toughness, and machinability. It is commonly used for components that require reliable mechanical properties without the higher strength or hardness of medium-carbon steels.
AISI 1045
A medium-carbon steel that provides a balance of strength, toughness, and wear resistance. Its higher carbon content allows it to achieve greater strength and hardness than lower-carbon grades, making it suitable for components exposed to higher loads and mechanical stress.
AISI 1141

Heat Treatment and Material Performance

For certain applications, components may be case hardened through carburizing. This process creates a hard outer surface while maintaining a tougher, more ductile core, which is beneficial for parts subject to wear and repeated loading.
